Fangshi Shuangren in a recent 3x3 designed by Funz puzzle. Fangshi Shuangren means 'frosted blade'.This cube has smooth feeling and it is very fast. Its design is somewhat similar to the moyu aolong.
This cube has good corner cutting both normal and reverse corner cutting.Even though it is fast it is controllable. The possibilities of pop-up is minimal.Lock ups will be there due to tension problem.Corner twist issue is there in this cube.Overall this cube is good for intermediate cube solvers.

Overview
The FangShi Shuang Ren is a cube that has just recently introduced itself into the world, and has surprised many cubers who were first skeptical about this new 3×3. Many famous cubers were each given a prototype of the Shuang Ren to review it and find out if they like it or not. From what they were all saying, this is probably the new best cube.Mechanism
The mechanism is by far the most interesting design that has come across the market, but there seems to be a trend that the stranger the design, the better the cube will turn out. It’s a strange concept, but the past cubes have been stating otherwise. The plastic interior is something that I noticed right away. I was not expecting the Shuang Ren to have a different plastic feel than other cubes that I’ve felt in the past. I almost assumed that there was an error in my order, but I noticed that mine wasn’t the only one. When I put the cube together, I was shocked at the smoothness that the plastic enabled opposed to the other plastic.
The edge pieces have this special “double torpedo” effect that seems to secure the piece in a way that is said to be unpoppable. After solving it for several days, I can see why. The edges are wedged in between the corners and the center pieces.
The corner pieces share a similar attribute to the rest of the cube. You can see that the corner piece smoothly curves over the edge piece. At first look, I thought the corner pieces were going to be too small to do any good to the overall structure and mobility, but the Shuang Ren proved otherwise. The strange combination of the pieces have made this 3×3 worth getting.
Review
To keep it simple, this is my top speed cube as of now and here’s why. The Shuang Ren has created the best balance between corner cutting, no popping, and smooth turning that I’ve seen up to date so far. The Shuang Ren is just as good if not better than the Dayan ZhanChi. This cube has not popped on me since I’ve had it, and that’s something I appreciate. Now I’ve had some strange issues with the corner pieces rotating by themselves, and that’s a little annoying but easily overlooked in the grand scheme of things. If I were to purchase a cube for myself as a new cuber, this wouldn’t be the cube I start out with because it is does tend to give more control to the cuber and I think the Shuang Ren is too advanced as a speed cube to be given to a beginner. My advice: buy this cube when you have at least 30 seconds on average. You can get it sooner, but it would probably be better to obtain this when you’ve had some experience.
Is This Cube For You?
If you like a cube that has no popping whatsoever, then you will greatly appreciate the Shuang Ren. On top of the no popping, you will find that the cube cuts corners, turn smoother, and give you more control that most cubes on the market. If you don’t like cubes with a rough plastic and a scratchy feel, then this may not be one you should get. I think the scratchy feeling will go away over time, but that cannot be confirmed right now.Get This Cube If You Prefer:
- Smooth turning
- Great corner cutting
- Quieter sounds
- Scratchy plastic
- Slicker feeling
- Click structure
